Friar Lawrence is a peacemaker.
I agree that Friar Lawrence is a peacemaker for a few reasons. One reason that he is a peace maker is because he helped Romeo and Juliet get married. He is a peacemaker for this because he has created a sense of peace and happiness between both Romeo and Juliet. They are so happy to be married to each other. At first, when Friar Lawrence heard about how Romeo wanted to marry Juliet, he was confused and in a little bit of disagreement. He reminded Romeo of Rosaline and asked why Romeo didn't love her. He asked,"Is Rosaline, whom thou didst love so dear,
So soon forsaken? Young men’s love then lies not truly in their hearts, but in their eyes." Once Romeo explained himself about how much he loves Juliet, he agreed and said that he would help them become married. But when he agreed to marry Romeo and Juliet, he seemed alittle bit reluctant about do that because he knew that there would be term oil in the end. He said to Romeo," For this alliance may so happy prove, to turn your households’ rancour to pure love." He told Romeo that he should send for Juliet to come to his cell and marry them.
On the other hand, Friar Lawrence is not a peacemaker. He is the exact opposite in everyone else's eyes accept for Romeo and Juliet. This is a major conflict between the Montegues and the Capulets. In their minds, this is not even a possibility. This is shown when Romeo snuck into the Capulets house to see Juliet. The first thing that Juliet said to Romeo is that he could get killed if anyone were to see him. Nobody on either side of the families want them to even talk to each other let alone marry. Both Romeo and Juliet are well aware that they would have to both run away when they get married because of how bad the situation will be. Friar Lawrence was apart of this by helping them get married. The reason why he was so skeptical about this was because he knew that there would be big problems. He knew that people will kill each other because of the descision that Romeo and Juliet are making. He could have stopped them from getting married. He had the choice to not help them. But he knew how badly Romeo and Juliet wanted this. So he went against what he knew would happen, and married them. He is not a peacemaker for this.
